  1. Professional Fitness Centers, Inc. has evaluated the current conditions of Branch Rickey Weight Room at Ohio Wesleyan University in Edwards Gymnasium with regards to its efficiency and safety. This was evaluated through student-athlete surveys and coaching staff interviews. The current condition of Branch Rickey Weight Room is not conducive to the improvement of Ohio Wesleyan’s student athletes and is also not safe enough for the athletes to work out without the possibility of injury due to the malfunctioning of equipment. The revised weight room will include new, top-of-the-line equipment that will help to increase student-athlete productivity as well as safety. This new renovation will help to bring future prospects to Ohio Wesleyan University as well as help with student retention. This new renovation also puts Ohio Wesleyan University and its athletic department on par with all other North Coast Athletic Conference schools.

  2. Fried Food Consultants, Inc. evaluated the current food and dining conditions of Ohio Wesleyan University through faculty/student interviews, surveys, data research, and comparative analysis of surrounding universities. The current condition of the food quality, and dining atmosphere is not accommodating to the Ohio Wesleyan Community. The limited food choices and seating availability, cause extra stress on students and faculty alike. The dining facilities do not provide adequate seating options for students, especially during peak hours, 12-1. The limiting food choices also lack general healthy options, as well as uphold an acceptable food quality. Revisions made to the dining and food facilities will provide students with healthier options, and more options, as well as more seating. The new renovations will not only benefit the current OWU community, but also attract prospective students. With Ohio Wesleyan being a top liberal arts school in Ohio, it is imperative that these changes be made so Ohio Wesleyan can stay on the same level as its competing universities.

  3. Walshie Consultants Inc. evaluated the current Natural Sciences distribution requirements through student surveys, faculty interviews, alumni interviews, GPA data research, and comparative analysis of competing liberal arts institutions. The current distribution requirement, regarding the Natural Sciences, is not the best path for every student at Ohio Wesleyan. The requirement to take classes where a student has no interest causes stress and has the potential to really harm a students’ GPA for their entire academic career at Ohio Wesleyan. The revised distribution requirements allow students to experience all the different disciplines, but are then able to focus more on the one(s) they are most interested in. This change will enable professors to get to know the students of their specific field and make students more comfortable in what they are seeking. Implementing the new changes will also make Ohio Wesleyan stand out from other competing institutions in the area.

  4. Law Consultants, Inc. evaluated the current Philadelphia Center internship program through student and faculty interviews, data research, and surveys. The current Philadelphia Center program for internships is not very effective because of ther fact many students do not want to leave OWU's campus for Philadelphia. A Philadelphia Center style of program in the Columbus area would appeal to many more economic students. This change would allow students to stay on campus while getting experience in a professional evironment and take one or two classes at OWU. The change would prepare them for the real world while allowing them the college experience they came to Ohio Wesleyan for. This change will also draw many great prospective economics students, attention from the professional business world and good attention from alumni.

  5. Markarian Management Co. evaluated the current Residential Life Off Campus Policy at Ohio Wesleyan University through student, graduated students, transferred students and incoming freshman surveys. The current policy of only letting thirty five students off campus is not in the best interest of the students or the school due to the fact that it deters students from staying at OWU, and even persuades prospective students to look elsewhere. A policy in which all juniors and seniors will have the choice to live elsewhere besides the dorms is more beneficial. The new policy will help retention rates increase and give students the life experiences they are lacking while living in the dorms. This will also bring our level up higher when it comes to competition since students now have another factor they can compare against while selecting the school best for them.

  6. Union Street Brothers evaluated the current work study program at Ohio Wesleyan University through interviews with faculty, and surveys for current work study employees. The current program is not as effective as some other programs in the area due to the fact that it offers only a limited amount of jobs and only a limited amount of hours per week. A program that offers more jobs to students and the option to work more hours in a week will be beneficial to prospective students and currents students alike. These improvements will better appeal to students considering Ohio Wesleyan because a steady source of income will be offered s opposed to some other schools. The increase in maximum hours one can work in a week will appeal to students looking for more income, which they can spend however they please. (leisure, loans, food, etc.) This change to Ohio Wesleyan's work study program is consistent with similar programs in the area including Ohio State University.

  7. Executive Summary
Ohio Wesleyan University’s Student Committee of Safety evaluated the issues with the current amount of safety provided to students on Ohio Wesleyan University’s campus through survey, student interviews, authority figure interviews, and data research. The current amount of Public Safety Officers and cruisers on campus is low relative to the student body population. By having small amounts of security, students are led to feel unsafe on their own campus. Hiring additional campus security allows students to act more freely on their campus because they have the comfort of knowing they are safe and feeling safe.

  8. The Council for Fraternity Presidents has evaluated the current situation of student community service hours amongst those in fraternities at Ohio Wesleyan by surveying executive members, community service chairs, Sue Pastors, and similar positions at rival schools such as Denison and Kenyon. While the student body as a whole has done remarkable work in logging a nationally recognized level of hours, it is the fraternities specifically that have excelled even with limited funds and resources. A set level of funding from WCSA for each chapter would ensure that Ohio Wesleyan can extend its reputation for community service while rewarding some of the most proactive students on campus. This change would also provide more benefit to the fraternity members by providing financial relief for the events they run each semester, it would broaden the importance of community service at Ohio Wesleyan, and it would link the Central Ohio community to the OWU students by amount of community service they provide.

  9. The Student Board of Ohio Wesleyan University has evaluated the student’s reaction of the addition of a new student recreation center on campus. We have discovered from our research that the students would be happier and more likely to stay enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University if there was a student recreation center. Students who are most interested in the recreation center are those who are physically active on a daily basis. The current status of the Edwards gym discourages students to be physically active, and therefore likely to not be as happy. In addition, the student athletes occupy Edwards gym from day to day, which leaves even less space for non-OWU athletes. Competitor schools within the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) such as Denison and Wittenberg have up-to-date student recreation facilities. Students are more attracted to schools that have new facilities that they have the ability to use. OWU is quickly falling behind competitor schools by not making this addition to campus.

  11. Agarose Consultants, Inc. analyzed the current method for selecting students at Ohio Wesleyan University for the Summer Science Research Program. Our staff polled students and interviewed faculty to determined the procedure used for selecting students and to measure satisfaction with this method. The process used to select student researchers was also compared to those at other competitive schools in order to determine its advantages and disadvantages. The current evaluation forms provide adequate criteria to accurately evaluate students for potential research positions. However, the process of ranking students based on their criteria does not provide Ohio Wesleyan with the most qualified applicants. Although priority is currently given to first or second-year students in the selection process, priority should instead be given to upperclassmen. This priority consideration would provide faculty with more experienced and prepared student researchers who require less training due to superior class and lab work. In addition, upperclassmen in science fields more urgently require research experience to be competitive candidates for graduate programs or medical school. This alteration to the selection process would provide Ohio Wesleyan students with more successful research projects and higher acceptance rates to graduate programs, as also demonstrated by a similar alteration made to the summer research selection method at Denison University and the College of Wooster.

  12. Central Ohio Reality, Co. evaluated the current off-campus student living policy at Ohio Wesleyan University through faculty interviews, student interviews and surveys, local landlord interviews, and comparative analysis with several other local, liberal arts institutions. The current off-campus living policy is not in the best interest of the students or of Residential Life, because it forces students into uncomfortable living situations, and limits the potential growth of the university. A modified policy that provides more university-owned off-campus housing will provide students with the freedom to decide on their living situation. The new policy will also provide the university with room and board capital that it would otherwise lose due to students living off-campus of their own terms or commuting from home. Students will be able to learn what it is like to live on their own, while the university can improve its image by attracting new students and providing upkeep on the new houses. This change also makes Ohio Wesleyan’s off-campus living policy similar to those of peer institutions.

  13. OWU Delts have analyzed and evaluated the current Memorandum of Understanding for Greek Letter Fraternities at Ohio Wesleyan, through data research, student surveys, and interviews with administration and other staff. It has been determined that the current Memorandum of Understanding is not in the best interest of the Greek Letter Fraternities because the unique needs and promises of all of the fraternities have not been fulfilled. OWU Delts has drafted a revised housing contract where each of the Greek Letter Fraternities have illustrated their particular needs and expectations from the Ohio Wesleyan Administration. This revised MOU closes the ambiguities of current policies and places checks and balances that the chapters can call on if something were to go wrong. The revised MOU will attract more students to Greek Life and reduce the requests for moving off-campus and improve relations for the whole Ohio Wesleyan community.

  14. Radio Tower Production, LLC. evaluated the current status of the WSLN radio station at Ohio Wesleyan University. The evaluation was conducted through surveys, equipment quality check, and the study of the frequency of live radio jockeys on air. From the study conducted, RTP concluded that WSLN Radio, when compared to other rival universities, is out-of-date and is ineffective when on air. In order to compete with these other universities like Denison and Kenyon, RTP will restructure the radio system at OWU and renovate the studio. The renovation consists of installing new electrical equipment in the main studio. These renovations would eliminate any mechanical/electrical disruptions during live broadcasts and an increase in the efficiency of disc jockeying (switching between types of media, etc.). The system restructure includes increasing the coverage area allotted by the FCC, training the student radio disc jockeys on how to increase listeners, which leads to publicity increase. Currently Denison and Kenyon have radio stations which WSLN cannot compete against as these two universities’ radio stations have gone under recent renovations. RTP’s renovations would increase WSLN’s popularity, thus being comparable and possibly superior to the radio stations of Denison, Kenyon, and other universities in the area.

  15. Education Advocates, Inc., on behalf of OWU Education Department, evaluated the feasibility of sending the student teachers to the annual National Association of Education of Young Children Conference. The goal and expectations of the NAEYC Conference and the Education Department were examined and compared to study the usefulness and effectiveness of the Conference to the education students. After a thorough review of the goals of OWU Education Department and the NAEYC programs and speaker sessions, a survey of current education students and faculty for the evaluation of the programs of the Education Department, interviews with education professors and NAEYC personnel, and a cost-benefit analysis of the NAEYC Conference, Education Advocates, Inc. found that it would be a good investment for students and the Education Program to attend the NAEYC Conference. The study reveals that this 3-day Conference will inform students of new and current issues, give them a chance to network, and help OWU Education Department to produce nationally competitive future educators.

  16. The Vietnamese Student Association evaluated the feasibility of a 3-week mission trip to Vietnam in the summer of 2011. Through the student survey and information meeting were examined, it has been determined that students of Ohio Wesleyan University are strongly interested in taking part in the trip. In addition, the Chaplain Office and the Wesleyan Councils on Students Affairs have confirmed that funding will be available for the mission trip. The study reveals that the mission trip will equip the team members with life and educational experience along with different, valuable, new perspectives that will make them ready for the life after college.

  17. Miller Consultation Firm evaluated the effectiveness of the current text books being used in Buckeye Valley Middle School social studies classrooms. In higher education, students are later exposed to many other perspectives throughout history, and it was part of our study to see if students are receiving exposure to these perspectives in their current text books. Interviews with different social studies teachers in your school as well completing surveys with students allowed our company to see if the books used are effective in preparing students for future learning, and what they would have liked to see in their books. Having studied multiple other text books, including your own Miller Consultation Firm recommends that the school upgrade their current text book The American Journey from Glencoe and McGraw-Hill. This book contains some of the features that the students and teachers explicitly stated they wanted in a text, including pictures, anecdotes, and one book for the whole year. The one flaw that this book did have was that it did not represent a wide range of multicultural information. This could easily be supplemented with other resources. Overall The American Journey is the best book on the market for you school.

  18. Ernst & Young-Vietnam Limited, on behalf of Flemingo International analyzed the feasibility of providing the following tax services to Flemingo International: tax efficient holding structure, protection or relief available under double tax agreements as well as the capital gains issues on selling or transfer of the shares of the limited company. Our firm have found that, to register a Vietnam subsidiary and received an advice on the domestic and international tax considerations; Flemingo International is required to register its investment with the Committee for the Planning and Management of Investment and to undertake tax and enterprise registration procedures. Without the necessary approval on Flemingo’s Investment License, enterprise license and tax registration, Flemingo is risking a high possibility of exposure to challenge by relevant tax authorities.

  19. Hubbell Consulting Group, Inc. looked over the current residential housing plans of top universities in Ohio. The current residential buildings on campus do not meet students standards in order to achieve high production. The residential buildings on campus have appliances and utilities that are currently outdated. A newly renovated residential campus, similar to the newly renovated senior living houses, will be necessary for students to strive to their fullest potential. A renovated campus communicates to students as an accommadation to their living needs. This change will produce stronger work ethic for students in and out of the class room. It will also increase students safety on campus. This change will also make Ohio Wesleyan University consistent with other Ohio universities, such as Denison University.

  20. Schlabach Construction Company analyzed the current conditions of the basemaent at Kavanaugh Hall based on professional inspections and parishioner response. We recomend eliminating various walls that would allow for more space for confrences and recreational activities. We also recomend that new furniture and entertainment accessories, such as a pool table and ping pong table, be added to utilize the basements full potential. We also recomend hidding the pipes that hang over head. A physical examination indicated that the space was moist, hot, and cramped for group activities. Furthermore, things like overhanging pipes make the space unattractive and a danger to parishioners attending conferences.

  21. The Ad Hoc Committee of Fraternal Residence evaluated the efficiency of the management of fraternity housing at Ohio Wesleyan University through student and House Advisor surveys, interviews with Buildings and Grounds staff, comparisons with other Ohio universities and cost-benefit analysis. The workload of Buildings and Grounds does not allow for a timely response to urgent requests. We recommend a self-management policy that would allow fraternity housing to operate independently through their respective Housing Corporations. This new form of management communicates to Fraternity men, their families and fraternity alumni the school’s dedication to ensuring the utmost satisfaction of their students. This change allows for fraternity housing to be managed independently, with full transparency and use of room and board fees. Much like the transitional strategies adopted by the other Ohio universities, we recommend
